How I Work
Choosing the right contractor isn’t just about the finished product. It’s about the experience of getting there. This page explains how I approach projects, communicate with clients, and deliver work I’m proud to stand behind. My process is designed to be calm, clear, and deliberate, so you always know what’s happening, why decisions are being made, and what to expect next.

Initial Conversation
Every project begins with a brief phone call or message to understand your goals, timeline, and whether we’re a good fit to work together.

This ensures:

-
Your project aligns with the type of work I specialize in
-
Expectations are clear from the start
-
Your time and mine are respected
If it makes sense to move forward, we will schedule a site visit.

Site Evaluation & Planning
I take the time to properly assess your space before making any recommendations.

This includes:

-
How the space is currently used
-
How you’d like to use it going forward
-
Drainage, grading, and existing site conditions
-
Transitions to existing structures
-
Long-term performance and maintenance
For straightforward projects, this assessment is included.
For more involved or design-driven projects, a paid consultation may be required. This fee is credited back if we proceed.
My goal is to recommend the right solution, not the biggest one.

Clear Scope & Proposal
You’ll receive a detailed, written proposal outlining:

-
The scope of work
-
Materials and methods
-
Project timeline
-
What to expect during construction
I believe clarity prevents misunderstandings and ensures a smooth experience for everyone involved.

No vague descriptions. No surprises.

If changes are requested once work is underway, they’re discussed and documented before proceeding so timelines and expectations remain clear.
Before any work begins, both parties review and sign a written agreement that outlines the scope, timeline, expectations, and warranty. This protects everyone involved and ensures the project starts with complete clarity.

Craftsmanship Focused Construction
I limit the number of active projects at any given time so each one receives proper attention, consistent progress, and hands-on oversight.

You can expect clear, straightforward communication throughout the project. If something needs to be discussed, it’s addressed early, not after the fact.
During construction, I focus on doing the work properly, even the parts you won’t see later.
This means:

-
Proper base installation and compaction
-
Careful attention to drainage and longevity
-
Clean cuts, transitions, and finishes
-
Respect for your property and the surrounding areas
-
A clean, organized site at the end of each day
I build every project as if it were at my own home.

Completion and Ongoing Support
Once the project is complete, we do a full walkthrough to ensure everything meets expectations.
You’ll receive:

-
Clear guidance on care and maintenance
-
Honest answers to any questions
-
Continued availability if something comes up later
My work isn’t finished when the tools are packed away. It’s finished when you feel confident using and enjoying your space.

All workmanship is backed by a clear, written warranty. If something related to my work needs attention, I’m available and responsive, not disappearing once the project is complete.

What Working With Me Looks Like
-
One point of contact throughout the entire project
-
Clear, professional communication, including:
-
Project updates twice a week (for projects exceeding one week)
-
-
Thoughtful, honest recommendations
-
High standards for workmanship
-
A transparent, low-stress experience
I take on a limited number of projects so each one receives the attention it deserves.
If you’re looking for work done quickly and cheaply, I’m probably not the right fit. If you value quality, clarity, and work done properly the first time, I’d be happy to talk.
